How to find the correct Service Record.

Your first step is to identify a person who served in the Australian Military Forces.
These websites below will help find an individuals Name and Service Number and other personal details to confirm that you have the correct service record.

Nominal Roll
The Australian War Memorial website gives a single list of names in alphabetical order of all the members who served in the First World War.

Embarkation Roll
Details of approximately 330,000 A.I.F personal, recorded as they embarked on troopships from Australia for overseas service during the First World War.

Record Search
The Australian National Archives website now has Service Records online to observe, review and print off for free. This is the first set of documents to obtain from the government departments that will help you start your research.
